  The Economic Metronome

  The economic metronome (IM) is a term for a mathematical formula of a set of fundamental interrelations of a key importance for the value-monetary expression among: the main factors of business activity of any kind; their productivity; the primary proportions in production, distribution, exchange and consumption of the commodities; the development rates of any activity. The formula is an attempt to create an instrument to measure more precisely the potential opportunity and the actually achieved efficiency of the business activity, for more-reliable forecast and projection of its development in the future at the stage of investments and innovations.

  Contributions of Different Social Groups to the State Budget Revenue - Institutional Aspects

  The paper analyses the different contribution given by the main social groups - the business and the households - to the state budget revenue. It is shown that the prevailing part of the budget revenues are insured by the households. On the other hand, in the group of the business the non-financial sector insures the prevailing part of the state budget revenues compared to the financial one. As one of the main reasons for this structure are defined the existing institutions, i.e. the acting formal and informal rules in the economy and in the society as a whole.

  A method to compile tables for child mortality

  The theoretical opportunities are discussed in this study to draw up tables for mortality of children below the age of 1 year according to the available statistical information in Bulgaria. Two approaches are suggested: on a monthly basis and a combined one at different age intervals - days (0,1,2,...,8), seven days' intervals (9-15; 16-22; 23-29) and finally - by months (1,2,...,11). The methodological problems have been settled by means of combined application of age intervals of various range. The provided theoretical formulations and solutions are backed up in practice with the established tables for child mortality in Bulgaria for the year 2008.

  Research Skill: Operationalizing a Definition

  The focus of the analysis is the tool for designing a definition, expressing the nature of a concept and the opportunity to apply this tool in economic research. The selected approach is a conceptual analysis of the relation "concept (necessity and sufficiency) - the definition as a cognitive explication - the contents of the definition (mainly of an economic object) -characteristics and varieties (fundamental and contextual, stipulating, etc) of the economic definition". The applicability of the fundamental theory was proven to define a concept of an object and some general deficits of this process are identified in the economic studies. The output rules are summarized for elaborating such an economic information.
